The last couple of Mastodon team-ups were a little strange, as the Atlanta noisemongers plotted a seven-inch with Feist and were photographed with Barney the Purple Dinosaur. Well, just in case you thought they had gone soft, metal fans will be pleased to learn that the group will be sticking within their own genre for the time being, as they have paired up with Sweden's Opeth for a co-headlining tour of North America this spring.
The month-plus trek largely takes place in the U.S., but there's still a number of dates north of the border for us Canadians to choose from. The band will hit up Montreal on April 6 and then Toronto the next day, and then later return for early May gigs in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon and Winnipeg.
Dubbed the "Heritage Hunter Tour," it will find Mastodon and Opeth alternating as headliners, with each show being opened by the enigmatic Ghost (who also just paid Canada a visit.)
