Masta Ace and DOOM's Joint Effort 'MA DOOM: Son of Yvonne' Gets Release Date

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 16, 2012

Way back in September, veteran New York rapper Masta Ace announced he had put the finishing touches on his collaborative album with metal-faced hip-hop icon DOOM, MA DOOM: Son of Yvonne. It's been a while since that announcement, but it looks as if the record will arrive this summer.

A listing at UndergroundHipHop.com [via Prefix/HipHopDX] says that the album will drop July 17 through Fat Beats Records. That's its artwork up above.

As previously reported, MA DOOM: Son of Yvonne finds Masta Ace spitting on top of a bunch of beats taken from DOOM's instrumental Special Herbs series, which was released between 2001 and 2005. A tracklisting has yet to be unveiled, but you can sample the title track, which uses DOOM's sax- and piano-sampling "Arrow Root," down below.

Meanwhile, as we previously reported, DOOM has another collaboration lined up with beatsmith Jneiro Jarel titled Key to the Kuffs, which will arrive this summer as well. A solid release date has yet to be delivered, but the pair will perform under the handle JJ DOOM.
