Published Sep 22, 2010Michael Jackson's estate is clearly rolling in the dough since the King of Pop died in 2009. And while they haven't decided to cash in on that robot hotel just yet, an equally futuristic concept is on the table with a Michael Jackson-themed online game.
The project is called Planet Michael, and will be a massively multiplayer online game in the vein of Second Life or World of Warcraft. Unlike those medieval games, however, Digital Spy reports that the game will be "themed on visuals inspired by Jackson's music, life and humanitarian efforts."
"We envisioned a magical, enjoyable place that will capture that zest for fun and life that was at Michael's very core," said Martin Biallas, CEO of SEE Virtual Worlds, the publisher developing the game for the Jackson estate. "Throughout his extensive career, the King of Pop was well known for his visionary contributions to music, dance, fashion, entertainment and philanthropy, and it was critical that we somehow incorporate all of those elements into the game."
Planet Michael is slated for late 2011 and will be available as a free download. The project will be funded by in-game transactions, including the ability to make charitable donations. A few screen shots of the film are available in the video below.
