British trip-hop pioneers Massive Attack are gearing up to release their fifth LP, Heligoland, which arrives in stores next Tuesday (February 9). The duo, however, are already looking ahead to their next release, revealing plans to release an EP of outtakes in May.

Robert "3D" Del Naja told BBC 6 Music, "It will probably be made up of tracks that we didn't put on this record and maybe some new stuff as well."

The band are still in the studio working on the songs, one of which was co-written Gus Garvey, front-man of the acclaimed Brit-rock outfit Elbow. "We've got this one called 'Red Light,' which we wrote with Guy [Garvey], which we've been playing live for two years and we still can't finish it," admitted 3D. "I really don't know if it will get finished."

He added, "To be honest, I still can't make the promise it will be finished because it seems to be a really evasively hard thing to capture."

As well as this unfinished track, Garvey also contributed vocals to "Flat of the Blade," a song that will appear on Heligoland. The album also features high-profile cameos from TV on the Radio's Tunde Adebimpe , Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval, Blur's Damon Albarn and others.
