Mark Wilson

"Stones and Sticks”

BY Cam LindsayPublished Feb 15, 2007

Let’s face it, if you’re an aspiring singer-songwriter it’s all about the voice. He’s got an exceptional talent for arrangements, but this Toronto-based musician has some pipes that could make a Cylon weep. Though left off his impressive EP, The Endless Elevator, this track from his MySpace page is an exquisite piece of songwriting. The piano trickles out a chord that’s dripping with lament, and then his voice kicks in, which contains a ragged cadence like a more tender Conor Oberst. Why Wilson’s unsigned is beyond me, but his February tour is a perfect time for a clever label to snatch him up. ( myspace.com/markwilsonmusic)
