Mark Clennon Marries Music and Movement in His "Don't Start a Fire" Video

It's the first single from his forthcoming 'Foreign' EP

Mark Clennon will soon follow 2019's Passion with new EP Foreign, and Exclaim! is proud to premiere the Toronto-based artist's video for lead single "Don't Start a Fire."

The affecting first look at Foreign, produced by Passion collaborators Rainer + Grimm (Drake, the Weeknd), now has a visual accompaniment courtesy of director Christian Boakye-Agyeman.

The video opens with Clennon seated in his kitchen, as clouds of smoke begin to rise alongside his vocal runs. As his movements become more expressive, his settings change in turn: Clennon rides the rhythm to overgrown train tracks, a tranquil waterfront and Toronto's concrete core.

As Clennon tells Exclaim!, there really is no place like home. "I wanted to be in the place where I felt the most comfortable in the world and that's my apartment," he explains of the video. "It's also the space where the events that inspired me to write the song took place."

Boakye-Agyeman had previously directed Clennon's video for Passion closer "Not Perfect." You can watch the pair's latest team-up for "Don't Start a Fire" below.

Foreign will arrive through Bonsound on March 19 and is now available for pre-order
