Mariah Carey's Christmas favourite "All I Want for Christmas Is You" has finally reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts.

It was originally released 25 years ago, but didn't chart on the Billboard Hot 100 because it was only released on her Christmas EP and not released commercially as a single.

It has gained traction during the holidays thanks to streaming services in the last few years, though, reaching No. 3 in 2017 and 2018. Now, it is finally in the top spot.

It marks Carey's 19th overall No. 1 hit, bringing her just one No. 1 song away from the Beatles' record of 20.

"All I Want for Christmas Is You" is also the first Christmas song to take the top spot since "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)" reached No. 1 in 1961.

The song even got its own documentary this year.
