With no shortage of Québécois-French speakers and conspicuous Montreal music scenesters in the room, it was no surprise that Malajube got loads of love from the crowd. But the Americans have clearly caught on to the buzz as well, linguistic comprehension be damned. The band’s smooth juxtaposition of soft and hard, pretty melodies and bombastic guitars, boyish vocals and intermittent primal wails came with all the passion they could muster in a brief showcase set.
