Published Apr 18, 2007Theres no denying that the folks at Fierce Panda have a good ear for the next big thing. They were the label behind the likes of Coldplay, Super Furry Animals, Supergrass and Ash at one time or another. Naturally, they have made some mistakes but their name still carries some weight. So, in theory Make Good Your Escape should be able to just sit back and wait for the major labels to come knocking. Yet it is hard to know if thatll be the case because Never Look Back Here Again isnt the most inspiring record. True, it has some moments where it seems like everything is coming together but it always stops slightly short. They sound like Coldplay trying to sound like Radiohead trying to sound like U2, as so many bands from the UK do at the moment, and in doing so blend into an already crowded scene of likeminded people. It looks like Make Good Your Escape might be one of the Fierce Panda bands that are best suited to the occasional single but an entire album might be pushing it.
