Main Beat Emotions

This is a premiere effort by an up and coming dance and house band from Toronto. The opening track "Keep Smiling" is cute, catchy, and a nice start to draw the audience in; unfortunately I couldn't help but visualise video game creatures the whole time. The second track fared better with a bit more depth, like going into the underground levels of Sonic the Hedgehog via an '80s revival of Depeche Mode. There is a definite flow through the tracks, a planned journey over and around their world. They are raw, the production value is simple, over use of the keyboard with simplified melodies, but a good start. I'd like to see how they develop in the future, focus on one style or refine all the aspects they're experimenting with now. (Independent)
