Brooklyn's Magrudergrind have been steadily working towards unveiling their Relapse Records debut, and though II doesn't arrive until later this week, Exclaim! is proud to bring you the Canadian premiere of the band's latest full-length before its release.
The follow-up their 2009 self-titled effort for Willowtip Records, II was recorded with studio wizard Kurt Ballou (Converge) in Salem, MA. Having been described as "a punishing hybrid of grindcore, powerviolence and hardcore punk," the billing certainly doesn't disappoint. An undeniable aggression runs through all 15 tracks, with Casey Moore's bludgeoning drums and R.J. Ober's relentless guitar riffing roaring in behind Avi Kulawhy's scraping shouts, tempos twisting at every turn.
