Magik Markers Return with 'Surrender to the Fantasy'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 29, 2013

It's been four years since Magik Markers offered up their last studio LP, Balf Quarry, but the Connecticut noise rockers are primed to make their return this fall with the release of a new set called Surrender to the Fantasy. Drag City puts the album in stores November 19.

A press release notes that this is the first LP to feature bassist John "The Saw" Shaw (Son of Earth, the Believers), though he's been a "monolithic presence" within the group since 2009. The trio's 11-song cycle kicks off with "Crebs," a punky song apparently "about the Chesapeake Valley Runoff and the mating cycle of crabs."

Song samples have yet to arrive behind the set, but it apparently features more "clunk, thud [and] clatter" from the veteran noiseniks. You can see the tracklisting down below and the cover art above.

Surrender to the Fantasy:

1. Crebs
2. Acts of Desperation
3. Bonfire
4. Mirrorless
5. American Sphinx Face
6. Young
7. Empire Building
8. Screams of Birds and Girls
9. WT
