Macguffin had the duty of closing out the early evening festivities at the newly-appointed MUTEK headquarters at 2-22. The modest Gatineau-based producer took to the stage with a calm but introverted demeanour. His set introduced playful micro rhythms, pitched clicks and pops and lo-fi filters in an aesthetic reminiscent of early Archipel. Rhythms transitioned back and forth between light hip-hop-influenced breaks and traditional house themes, keeping the set fun and fresh for a laid-back room. Subtle intricacies in the music were occasionally drowned out by more prominent rhythmic elements in the mix, but it did little to dampen the spirit of an enthusiastic weekend crowd.
