Since 1993, American producer Maetrik (aka Eric Estornel) has been predominately known for his intricate, machine-driven techno. On his latest release, he redefines himself as Maceo Plex, combining his superb craftsmanship with a warmer, more soulful edge. Moving to sunny Valencia has played an influential role in his transformation and maturity as an artist. Infectious dance floor smasher "Vibe Your Love" is a brilliant take on Stevie Wonder's "For Your Love" that is bound to please. Incorporating a funky bass line and some disco-sounding vocals, "Love U Mama" is a slow building, celebratory track and collaboration with old friend Fabel. Closing number "Bring It Back " is a texturally layered, grooving offering paying homage to cities around the world. It's no exaggeration that this is one of the best albums to come out on Crosstown Rebels and one of the most notable releases of 2011 thus far.
