In the lead-up to his latest album, Mac DeMarco has rolled out singles like "This Old Dog," "My Old Man" and "On the Level" — not to mention an elaborate prank billboard campaign. Now, though, the wait for This Old Dog is finally over.
The record marks the full-length follow-up to 2014's Salad Days (and 2015 mini-album, Another One), and it hears DeMarco channelling the sounds of songwriting legends like Paul Simon and James Taylor — switching things up and embracing the acoustic guitar.
"It's funny to be like, 'I'm going to try to write songs like these guys.' They're some of the best songwriters that have ever lived," he recently told Exclaim! "You're aiming pretty high. I don't think I've even come close to something of their calibre, but maybe it's a good thing to shoot for."
