M.I.A. is hopping on the NFT train with a set of new digital artwork to be listed exclusively through Foundation, a blockchain-fuelled digital auction space.

The artist aims to release a multi-tiered visual project titled GARAGE DANCE, the first element of which, "GIFTY 1," is scheduled to be listed on April 8 at 4 p.m. ET. The piece is described as "bookending her 25-year tenure as a digital artist and collected as a GIF." The artwork will be up for auction for a period of only 24 hours.

In addition to "GIFTY 1," another piece titled "KALA COYN" is set to arrive through Foundation at a later date. The work is M.I.A.'s first-ever digital artwork, originally created in 1996.

"'KALA COYN' and the GARAGE DANCE series is a living, breathing, psycho-spectral canvas that crystalizes this moment in time for me," M.I.A. wrote in a statement. "Visually, it's a mind f*ck and embodies everything I've loved about the digital art arena. It's only now that the appropriate gallery for my work finally exists."
