M. Geddes Gengras Reveals 'Test Leads' LP

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Aug 29, 2012

There's no question musical eccentric M. Geddes Gengras has been around the block once or twice. Over the years, he has worked with projects like Pocahaunted, Robedoor, LA Vampires, and recently Sun Araw and the Congos. Now, though, he's sticking to his birth name for a new full-length.

Called Test Leads, the album arrives October 30 via Holy Mountain.

The record only boasts four tracks, but we're guessing these are epic ones, as the press release describes them as "sprawling synthscapes."

The PR also shares this description about where Gengras is coming from on Test Leads:

Test Leads calls to mind Klaus Schulze's Dune album or perhaps the Dune soundtrack scored by Toto and Brian Eno, but will also appeal to fans of Conrad Schnitzler and Manuel Göttsching, as well as Robert Hampson (Loop, Main), Bill Laswell, Roger Eno and Nurse With Wound. Thrown into the mix is some Sky Records / Wolfgang Riechmann-style (cold) poppiness.

Adding to that, we can apparently expect an album that ranges from "odd pinball-esque plinking to cold, dystopian soundscapes." For now, you can check out the tracklist below and the artwork up above.

Test Leads:

1. Waldorf, Pts. 1 & 2
2. Night Work
3. Cairo
4. Waldorf, Pt. 3
