M83 Announces North American Tour for November

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Jul 23, 2008

John Hughes-loving shoegazers M83 may have recently wrapped up their first round of North American tour dates, but it seems they are ready for more. The Anthony Gonzalez-led project has announced they will be making a return visit to Canada and the U.S. this fall, giving fans a second chance to check out just why Saturdays equal youth.

This time around, M83 will be supported by Brooklynites School of Seven Bells, the new project by former Secret Machine Benjamin Curtis and ex-members of On!Air!Library!. Also, in Gonzalez’s band, he will be accompanied by a very animated female keyboardist, a calm and reserved Frenchman on bass and guitar, and a drummer who plays behind massive sheets of plastic (presumably to deaden all those big, metal-styled fills). Or at least he will be if this tour is anything like the last one.

In related M83 news, the band’s new single for the Saturdays = Youth track "Kim & Jessie” has just been released digitally and on 12-inch vinyl via Mute. It features one remix by Montreal-turned-Vancouver resident Montag and another by DatA.
