Lykke Li Announces North American Tour

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Jun 17, 2008

If you missed Lykke Li on her first North American sweep, don’t worry — she’s coming back. The hair flippin’, shoulder shakin’ Swede has announced a second round of Canadian and U.S. tour dates, and this time she’s secured the headlining position. And trust us: if you enjoy girl pop, kazoos, bling and small overly energetic dancing queens, this is a good thing.

The dates come in anticipation of Li’s full-length debut Youth Novels, which drops domestically via her own LL Recordings on August 19 but hit Sweden way back in January. For now, though, all we Canadians have — well, legally — is her Little Bit EP, which you can surprisingly get a lot of mileage out of despite it having only four tracks.

And while Li’s album may not even be out here yet, a message posted on her MySpace blog seems to hint she’s already ready for record number two. "Really can't wait until I can go back in the studio and see what my next chapter is,” Li wrote. "It’s going to take a really long while because of all the touring but I can smell inspiration is around the corner. My inner voice tells me my outer voice is there too. We can’t all be Karen Dalton but we can all be honest. My heart is bleeding.”

Here are those tour dates:

8/25 Los Angeles CA, Hotel Café
8/28 New York NY, (le) Poisson Rouge
10/19 Washington DC, Black Cat
10/23 Boston MA, Paradise
10/24 Toronto ON, Mod Club
10/25 Chicago IL, Empty Bottle
10/28 Vancouver BC, Richard’s on Richards
10/29 Seattle WA, Neumo's
10/30 Portland OR, Doug Fir
11/1 San Francisco CA, Independent
