Lykke Li Acting in Swedish-Language Crime Thriller, Shares Trailer

Lykke Li hasn't released an album since 2011's Wounded Rhymes, and fans of the Swedish pop songwriter will have to wait a little longer for the follow-up, since her latest project is of a non-musical variety. She's starring in a Swedish film called Tommy, which bears no apparent connection to the Who's rock opera and which will be released on March 14.

As Pitchfork points out, Lykke Li posted the trailer of Tarik Salehs-directed flick on Instagram. It's a crime thriller about a woman named Estelle who returns to Stockholm after previously fleeing when her husband, Tommy, is involved a large robbery. Tommy is believed to be returning home soon.

For international audiences, there just one catch: the film is in Swedish, and we were only able to understand the synopsis by putting it through Google Translate. Luckily, there's a version of the trailer featuring English subtitles, so watch that below.

It's not clear exactly what role Lykke has in the film. She's not starring in the lead role of Estelle, but she is listed in the principal cast.

Saleh has previously directed a couple of Lykke's videos, "I Follow Rivers" and "Sadness Is a Blessing."
