Lydia

"Goodside" / "Sunlight" (Acoustic) on No Future

Ahead of the release of sixth LP Liquor, Lydia played a couple of their songs for Exclaim! TV's No Future, including lead single "Goodside" and previously unreleased tune "Sunlight."

The Arizona act were at Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theatre, supporting Moose Blood, when they headed to the Yoga Sanctuary to record the new songs in the tranquil studio (funnily enough, the same location their tourmates had filmed their No Future session).

The smooth piano lead of "Goodside" translates beautifully to the stripped-down arrangement. And as for "Sunlight," it has a bouncy, off-time rhythm, once again set by keyboardist Matt Keller. Guitarist Shawn Strader, meanwhile, grooves along with the bass riff — a last minute decision right before recording — and vocalist Leighton Antelman suggests, "You're just my favourite mother fucker I know." Really, this could very well could prove to be the case for this song once fans hear it.

Check out the session in the players below, and be sure to keep an eye out for Liquor, dropping July 13 via Weekday Records. Who knows when the studio version of "Sunlight" will surface.
