LV Sebenza

LV Sebenza
Sebenza, which means "work" in Zulu is the second album by London, UK outfit LV and features three South African rap acts as collaborators: Spoek Mathambo, Ruffest (aka Sello and Max) and Okmalumkoolkat. Analog synths, digital beats, kwaito (South African house), electro hip hop and UK funky all meld together on Sebenza to create a great album of original production that captures the spirit of LV's concept of "South Africa meets South London." Album opener and title track feature South African rapper Okmalumkoolkat – who appears on half of the album's 14 tracks – where he references Depeche Mode's "Everything Counts." Album highlight "Zulu Compurar" showcases the South African rapper's hilarious verse over the track's addictive bounce and click, whereas other tracks are more immediately dance floor ready. A forward-thinking and ridiculously fun album of true cultural and musical fusion that highlights the talent in the underground music scene of both continents. (Hyperdub)
