Published Apr 14, 2009Lupe Fiasco is just one of those personalities who attracts the most bizarre headlines. First, there was the announcement that he was retiring with a final three-disc album, then there was the British post-punk band that he almost definitely fronted. Now, various sources are reporting that Fiasco will join Justin Timberlake and Ethiopian-born pop singer Kenna in climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise awareness about the water shortage.
In an interview with Elle magazine, Lupe and Kenna spoke up about the trip. "My dad almost died as a child from waterborne diseases in Ethiopia, and he had talked to me about digging a well there, and I thought, 'I have too many friends who would be concerned with the subject of clean water. Maybe I can help out," Kenna said.
"I'm an adventure junkie," Lupe added. "Part of the motivation is beating Kenna to the top. Sabotaging his tent, taking the lining out of his coat, lacing it with ants or something like that."
As for lupE.N.D., it seems as though the project has been put on hold so that the rapper can release more albums, beginning with this summer's high school-themed Lasers record. Dude came out of retirement before he even retired!
