Tell Me Do You Miss Me: A Film About Luna

BY Cam LindsayPublished Aug 1, 2006

From the wistful opening moments capturing their final performance onstage at the Bowery Ballroom to the epilogue updating each member’s life, Tell Me Do You Miss Me is a significant music doc on longstanding NYC indie rock outfit Luna. Why this film works isn’t so much because of the members or the music but because of how well planned and documented the entire project is. Concocted by Buzzell as the band plan their demise and farewell tour, every step of Luna’s last hurrah is on film, from the band writing their obit for a press release and discussing their modest success to warts and all interviews and intimate moments that reveal just how indifferent their working relationships were. This is a film that exposes the inner workings of a band and the struggle to keep things going through the thick and thin, and it should not be missed, regardless of if you’re a fan or not.
