LUKA

"I Count the Years" (video)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jul 6, 2016

Toronto singer-songwriter Luke Kuplowsky performs under the moniker LUKA, and he's unveiling a brand new video. Last summer, he shared "O, My Heart Is Full," and nearly a year later he's back with a clip for "I Count the Years."

The track comes from LUKA's latest LP Summon Up a Monkey King, and the accompanying video arrives courtesy of Kuplowsky's brother Adam.

"A selection of visual travel-diary entries set to Luka's gentle 'I Count the Years,' the music video is a meditation on accident and intention, on being and belonging," the director tells Exclaim! "The editing is meant to convey the synergistic relationship between the mind, the world, and the musical elements: in Luka's words, the 'forces [that] convene to make you doubt,' 'the reasons that keep you believing,' and the 'song that makes you belong.'"

From shots of gorgeous flora, to footage of seaside wanderers and mountain hikers, to bustling scenes of city life, the clip offers a pretty perspective on life.

Summon Up a Monkey King is out now on Yellow K Records. Scroll past LUKA's upcoming tour dates to watch the video for "I Count the Years."
