Lucy Boynton Confirmed to Play Marianne Faithfull in New Biopic

Lucy Boynton has been confirmed as the actor to play Marianne Faithfull in an upcoming film about the singer-songwriter.

Faithfull will be directed by Ian Bonhôte and tells the artist's story from her days as a teen pop star, then through a rocky relationship with Mick Jagger, addiction and homelessness, and, eventually, a comeback.

"I am delighted that my story is finally being made with my dream team of Lucy, Julia [Taylor-Stanley, producer] and Ian," Faithfull said in a statement.

She first sold the film rights to her 1994 biography Faithfull back in 2009.

"I'm not getting involved," she said at the time. "I'll read the script, when it's ready, which isn't for a long time, and then I'll leave it to the director and the actress he chooses."

Boynton's previous film roles include Freddie Mercury's partner Mary Austin in Bohemian Rhapsody, as well as the female lead in Sing Street. She also stars in Netflix series The Politician.

Bonhôte's most recent film was 2018 Alexander McQueen documentary McQueen.
