Lowtalker

People Worry About Everything

BY Sam SutherlandPublished Jun 28, 2010

Comprised of one-half Misery Signals members and one-half Comeback Kid members, Lowtalker sound absolutely nothing like you'd expect. And that's clearly the point. Looking to shake off some metalcore dust from their pop punk bones, these guys have crafted an unbelievably solid debut EP, paying homage to '90s staples like Face To Face and Hot Water Music while managing to write songs that stand alone with their character and distinct melodic tendencies. Opener "Eulogy" contains a massive chorus that might as well be a Fest-ready epic-in-waiting, while "Optional Medicine" is a rough-edged barnburner with a killer harmonized guitar riff coda. Knowing that their day-job bands are paying the bills only adds to the sincerity of every note. Bands like to say they're just doing what they love, but with Lowtalker, there's no doubt that's completely true.
