This edition of Can't Miss Concerts, which features events from July 23 to 29, is almost entirely composed of festivals–– here at the end of the month, many of the summer's most anticipated showcases have arrived. With lineups that boast artists of great diversity and prestige playing all around the country, it's a pretty good week of musical celebration in Canada.

Calgary Folk Fest

Calgary Folk Fest is a three-day event that celebrates tradition and genre-defying music. This year, the lineup of artists includes Father John Misty, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Tasseomancy, Milk Carton Kids, the Strumbellas, Patrick Watson, Hawksley Workman, the Wooden Sky, the John Butler Trio and a slew of other troubadours who are excited to share their sounds and come together on the festival's trademark collaborative sets.

Lower Dens

Lower Dens are an indie pop band from Baltimore, MD. The success of their third album Escape from Evil finds them on a world tour, and they will be passing through Canada this week. This time around, the band are bringing a new dimension to their music; the addition of a laptop and keyboard has allowed the airy synths of their latest LP to overlay the swirling guitars and Jana Hunter's alto croon.

MEG

MEG (Montreal Festival Electronique Groove) say that their festival is about "searching, discovering, falling in love, dancing [and] celebrating." If you're keen on any of these experiences, come check out the 17th edition of this event. This year, MEG is featuring artists like Dear Criminals, Secret Secret Girl, Fragile Feet, Human Human, Darius, Ragers, Madeskimo, Buck Smith, Ouri and a long lineup of others.
