Loscil, The Tape Loop Orchestra and Danny Norbury Contribute to Wist Rec.'s 'Book Report Series'

Last fall, Irish-based imprint Wist Rec. kicked off its Book Report Series, which pairs classic novellas with newly recorded accompanying electronic soundscapes, and the label has now unveiled its next three instalments.

The next batch will include a reprinting of Raymond Chandler's collection of pulp fiction short stories The Killer in the Rain, which will come with a three-inch CD of new tunes from the Tape Loop Orchestra. Also, English author Malcolm Lowry's posthumous novel Lunar Caustic comes with a score from Vancouver-based ambient/electronic scene vet Loscil, while Danny Norbury puts an aural spin on Angela Carter's Bluebeard.

Each release is set to arrive February 29, and you can hear samples of each below.

As with previous releases, Wist Rec.'s goal is to curb digital dominance by celebrating the look and feel of a printed book, and was "conceived as way of involving the shifting state of literature with a community that would not only help to highlight the significance of a book's physical form but also allow one to glean new, immediate connections between differing art forms."
