Six years on from beginning to write music as Lord Huron, Ben Schneider had never taken his project to Quebec City to perform before, making their early Friday evening (July 8) slot on the Plains of Abraham that much more meaningful.

Making their half-hour on stage anything but your typical indie folk set, guitarist Tom Renaud was seen bringing a bit more sustain to his six-string by using an EBow, while drummer Mark Barry used hand drums and maracas alongside his kit to bring some welcome new sounds to his timekeeping.
The group's best work as a unit came with set closer "The Stranger," highlighted by dual slide guitar harmonies, the occasional disco-influenced bass line and the band electing to drag the song's final lines out slowly amidst crashing drum fills and all three guitarists whaling away on their axes.
