Published Aug 09, 2016Montreal art-rock unit Look Vibrant delivered a video for "Callous Reaction" last year, and now they're back with another brand new single.
"Bull & Eagle" is the first track from Look Vibrant to feature the full five-person lineup of founders Justin Lazarus and Matt Murphy, plus new additions Andrew David, Eli Kaufman and Alex Rand. It finds the group bridging the gap between their earlier noise-rock roots and a newfound pop sensibility.
The result is a quirky, peppy pop tune that delightfully twists and turns in an array of different directions. It was specifically inspired by the recurring dreams of Murphy's stepdad, attempts to capture the feeling of seeking freedom from a life filled with "struggle, betrayal and discrimination."
In the band's own words, the new tune "has a skittish energy," created thanks to a "driving, polyrhythmic backbone that contrasts airy vocals and woozy synth layers."
The group are currently continuing work on their debut LP, but you can hear some of what they've been up to right now by giving "Bull & Eagle" a spin in the player below.
