Long Distance Runners Frontman Chris Picco Goes to 'The Beach' on Solo Album
In addition to fronting the Long Distance Runners, Newfoundland songwriter Chris Picco has a solo career of his own. His third solo album is called The Beach, and it will be out on June 4. The entire thing is currently available ahead of time.

A press release notes that this is Picco's first solo disc in more than five years. It was recorded live of the floor over two weekends in the fall of 2012 at Lab of Chaos with co-producer Krisjan Leslie. Picco was backed by an acoustic band during the sessions.

The results reportedly find Picco moving away from the psych-rock sounds of the Long Distance Runners and back towards his roots in country, blues and folk. The songs were inspired by life-altering events like marriage, becoming a father, and the death of Picco's mother.

The entire 10-song album is streaming down below, as is a music video for sprightly hoedown "Real Estate Man."
