LOL Boys Spinoff Heartbeat(s) Teams Up with New Vancouver Label 1080p for Debut Album

Markus Garcia makes up one-half LOL Boys, but with that duo currently on hiatus, Garcia has moved from Montreal to Vancouver and began recording under the alias Heartbeat(s). He's partnered with the newly minted Vancouver tape label 1080p for the debut album Home Remedies, which arrives out today (June 18).

Sonic touchstones include Detroit techno, UK garage, skate punk, Southern rap and movie soundtracks. A press release explains, "Garcia has created what he calls an ode to his youth, pulling influence from his younger years in Chicago and labels like Dance Mania and Traxx." The result is intended to recreate the spontaneous feel of the mixtapes Garcia picked up during his youth.

Hear the thudding, seven-minute-long closing track "(We) Knew It All Along" below. Elsewhere, LOL Boys collaborator Angelina Lucero lends her voice to opener "Hocus Pocus," and her contribution is said to be "Björk-esque."

The album is available on cassette or digitally. Tapes are available to purchase here.

2. Long Night Ahead
3. T.T.T. (Twerk Team Tryouts)
4. Brick & Birds
5. South Shore
