The Locust's Justin Pearson Launches Planet B Project, Shares Two Songs

BY Josiah HughesPublished Nov 19, 2015

Though his band the Locust hasn't been too active of late, Justin Pearson has been keeping plenty busy this year. He released Beneath California, the latest album from his Retox project, and reissued the self-titled EP from Head Wound City, the band he shares with members of the Blood Brothers and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Now, he's got yet another collaboration to share with us.

The project is called Planet B, and sees Pearson working in tandem with Penguin Studio's Luke Henshaw. The pair have recorded two songs for an upcoming 7-inch, both of which can be streamed below [via Brooklyn Vegan].

Planet B's music certainly bears some resemblance to Pearson's previous projects as the two songs boast aggressive vocal yelps and busy instrumentation. That said, they add new elements to his sound with bizarre samples and electronic drum beats. It's a pretty interesting listen.

Check out both new songs below. Planet B will release both songs on a 7-inch via Three One G on November 27.
