Listen to Ray LaMontagne & the Pariah Dogs' God Willin' & the Creek Don't Rise Now on Exclaim.ca

Folk singer Ray LaMontagne has charmed the ears of many with his soothing guitar and rustic vocals via three studio records, the last being 2008's Gossip in the Grain. Now, LaMontagne is back with his fourth release, God Willin' & the Creek Don't Rise, and this time he's enlisted the impressively talented fleet of instrumentalists dubbed the Pariah Dogs.

God Willin' & the Creek Don't Rise isn't due out until August 17 via RCA Records, but you can listen to it in its entirety here, where it will be streaming all week on Exclaim.ca.

The album has an intimate and live feel, which makes sense considering it was recorded in a mere two weeks at LaMontagne's own home in the woods of western Massachusetts. God Willin' & the Creek Don't Rise was also self-produced by LaMontagne for the first time. The support of the Pariah Dogs provides an uplifting collective spirit that complements LaMontagne's vocals in a previously undiscovered way. It just goes to show that although his solo efforts remain exceptional, sometimes a little musical teamwork goes a long way.

In support of the record, Ray LaMontagne & the Pariah Dogs will embark on a North American tour this month, and will play Toronto on August 27. You can see the band's full list of dates here.

God Willin' & the Creek Don't Rise will be streaming on Exclaim.ca until August 16.
