Published Aug 24, 2010If Winnipeg's Comeback Kid have proven anything in their eight-year career, it's that they have one killer knack for banging out furious hardcore punk tracks with serious melodic hooks. For proof, look no further than their upcoming album Symptoms + Cures.
The record isn't due out until August 31 via Distort, but you can listen to it here, where it will be streaming all week on Exclaim.ca.
Symptoms + Cures marks the band's third studio album and Distort debut, with the LP's 11 songs being recorded by Eric Ratz and Kenny Luong, who have both previously worked with Cancer Bats and Billy Talent. And Symptoms + Cures doesn't waste any time; it quickly launches into "Do Yourself a Favour," and before you know it, a blistering drum roll kicks off "Crooked Floors." It doesn't stop there, as Symptoms + Cures becomes one relentless piece of work.
While it's not exactly a departure, the album reflects Comeback Kid playing around with a tighter, more polished sound. The hooks come through in the chant-along choruses of "G.M., Vincent, & I," "Because of All" and standout track "The Concept Stays." But don't just take our word for it, have a listen for yourself, both with the album stream and on the band's upcoming Canadian tour. For the complete list of dates, click here.
Symptoms + Cures will be streaming until August 30 on Exclaim.ca.
