On Saturday (April 17), Record Store Day came and went, and vinyl enthusiasts across the world swarmed their favourite music shops to get their grubby hands on some exclusive releases. Among the numerous excellent choices was "Fool's Day," a brand new track from Blur, pressed to a seven-inch single.

The song marks the band's first new material in eight years, but for North American fans, obtaining the record would have proven quite difficult. The seven-inch was limited to 1,000 copies, and was only released in the UK. Fortunately, Blur have been kind enough to make the track available for free download.

In a press release, Blur's manager Chris Morrison explained that the band decided to release the song as a free download to prevent Internet pirates from pushing a poor quality vinyl rip online. "To avoid fans having to illegally obtain an inferior copy of this track from pirate sites - we have made it freely available through the band's website," he said.

All you have to do is provide the band with a valid email address and you can get "Fool's Day" as a 320kbps MP3 or uncompressed WAV file. The track can be obtained here, or streamed below. Hopefully, the new song means they've changed their minds about a new album.
