It's been less than a year since Mac Miller tragically passed away at the age of 26. While a rumoured album with Madlib has since been shelved, we do get to hear some posthumous music via the newly leaked "Benji the Dog."
The song includes a sample of Valerie Simpson's 1972 single "Benjie," which was previously used on the Lil Wayne/Drake song "With You." Here, it sets the tone for Mac to spit more of his characteristically clever, melancholy-tinged bars.
In the song, Miller continues to discuss his issues with addiction. In the wake of his passing, that gives the song a particularly heartbreaking feel.
