Listen to a New Banger from Pretty Matty

"Why Not Be Something That You Are?" will drop on a 7-inch next month

Toronto-based, Windsor-bred power-pop punker Pretty Matty (a.k.a. Matty Morand) dropped a self-titled LP last year, but they're already back with some new heat via a brand new single. Today, Exclaim! is proud to present the new banger "Why Not Be Something That You Are?"

Clocking in at a brisk 108 seconds, the single wastes no time. That said, it's still packed to the brim with crunchy guitars, a hard-hitting rhythm section and hooks aplenty.

"The song is about growing out of yourself and the community you came up with while other people don't seem to be on the same page," Morand says of the single. "I had moved back to my hometown after college and I spent a few years being a huge bratty terror because it seemed like we all expected things to be the same and it just wasn't that way anymore."

"Why Not Be Something That You Are?" will be available on a split 7-inch with Nashville's Sad Baxter. The record will arrive on March 6 via Head 2 Wall Records. Until then, spin the single below, where you'll also find Pretty Matty's upcoming tour dates.
