From critically shunned albums to epileptic seizures to a controversy involving an American flag, 2013 has not been kind to rap megastar Lil Wayne. Apparently, Weezy knows this, as he's apologized to fans for a lacklustre year and promised new material.

Taking to his Twitter, Lil Wayne wrote, "Noticed I wasn't nominated nor involved n da MTV VMA's nor da BET awards...I apologize to my fans and I promise 2 work harder if it kills me."

First up, Wayne has made a promise to deliver a new mixtape this week. The fifth instalment in Weezy's popular Dedication series is slated to arrive on Friday (August 30). Usually, these tapes involve the performer rapping over zeitgeisty rap beats. In other words, we're probably getting a Lil Wayne "Versace" remix on Friday.
