Published Oct 17, 2011Hip-hop superstar Lil Wayne has never been known to slow down, so it comes as no surprise to learn that the rapper has two new projects on the go. What may shock you, however, is that one of them is a take-two for his confusing rock outing, Rebirth.
Continuing this year's sequel theme, Young Money president Mack Maine confirmed that Lil Wayne will follow up his platinum-selling but mildly disappointing Tha Carter IV with part twos for both Rebirth and last year's I Am Not a Human Being.
"He's, like, 12 songs in, and it's crazy. He went left. He's in Martian land right now," Maine told MTV of I Am Not a Human Being II.
While neither of the originals made as much of an impact as Weezy's Tha Carter series, Maine explains that they're just as essential, claiming that they let little Wayne explore his every whim.
"He gets to show his rock side, he gets to show the gangsta side and talk to the women on one side," said Mack. "On I Am Not a Human Being, he is definitely showing some weirdo, left-brain, I'm-not-from-here type side. He can say what he wants. There's no boundaries or limits."
While the results are questionable sometimes, Maine continued that diversifying Weezy's back catalogue makes for a more interesting live show.
"He captures all those different audiences and then at a concert or a show, you bring all those different people together. You bring your Rebirth rock people, you bring your Carter people, and you bring your I Am Not a Human Being [crowd], and you have a great show. That's why we sell out arenas every night."
Release dates for either set have yet to be announced, but we'll keep you in the loop. In the meantime, there's still troves of unreleased Lil Wayne tracks, with the latest leak being "G'd Up," a tune he apparently recorded in 2005 with Curren$y and Mack Maine. You can stream the tune below.
