Lil Wayne

Dedication 3 (Gangsta Grillz)

BY Cam LindsayPublished Nov 17, 2008

It was only a matter of time before Lil Wayne dropped another mixtape on us. Selling more records than any artist in America this year (that's unconfirmed, but more than likely) doesn't even stop this cat, which means he's definitely not coasting on the success of Tha Carter III by simply blogging for ESPN and making paid appearances at whatever event wants him.

A sequel to 2006's Dedication 2 (Gangsta Grillz), Dedication 3 finds Weezy back with DJ Drama for some more "gangsta" shout outs, this time with 73-percent more Auto-Tune! (If Kanye can do it, Weezy can do it better.) Droppin' witticisms like "I don't eat pizza, I eat pussy" and sampling everything from T.I.'s "Whatever You Like" to Soulja Boy's "Let Me Get 'Em," it's more of a posse affair, as Wayne invites a bunch of Young Money up-and-comers like Gudda Gudda, Jae Millz, Drake and Lil Twist to share the spotlight. In fact, there aren't any real surprises or even standouts, other than how generous he is in sharing his mic time.

The sheer fact that he's pretty consistent with these — the last track is titled Dedication 4, he's currently hard at work on Tha Carter IV, not to mention I Can't Feel My Face, a collab with Juelz Santana, and let's not forget, another version of Tha Carter III with all new songs (WTF?) expected before Christmas (WTFF?) — means we're not gonna have time to have separation anxiety with this dude for a very long time.
