Over the weekend, a wide array of artists performed at the Santa Teresa festival in Sainte-Thérèse, QC. While there was no shortage of great performances, Lil Uzi Vert fans were pissed when their hero was forced to cancel.
The performer's cancellation was announced last night (May 20) on Twitter, around the same time Uzi was meant to perform:
The tweet loosely translates as follows:
Lil Uzi Vert will unfortunately not be able to perform tonight due to a lack of cooperation from Canada Customs. All ticket buyers will promptly receive an email for the refund procedure. Thank you for moving with calm and respect.
Despite the Twitter announcement, his cancellation wasn't made clear to festivalgoers, who rushed the stage while waiting for Uzi to appear. Watch fan-shot footage of the incident below.
UPDATE (05/21, 4:40 p.m.): Here's an official statement from Santa Teresa's publicist:
Yesterday, Lil Uzi Vert and his crew landed via plane in Montreal to perform at Santa Teresa Fest in Sainte-Thérèse, Québec just outside Montreal, Canada.
Despite his entire entourage being approved to cross the border, Canada Customs Officers prevented Lil Uzi Vert from officially entering Canada.
Every effort was made by the festival on every political level to facilitate Lil Uzi Vert's entry into the country but the efforts made were unfortunately not successful.
All ticket holders will receive a reimbursement e-mail rapidly. We regret any inconvenience this concert cancellation has caused.
