Lil B Actually Tries Out for Santa Cruz Warriors Basketball Team

Considering how many damn mixtapes prolific hip-hop oddball Lil B has dropped in recent years, it's amazing the dude does anything besides hang out in the studio. This past weekend, though, the rapper tried to diversify his CV by trying out for the Santa Cruz Warriors, a minor-league affiliate to the NBA's Golden State Warriors.

You can check out some interview footage with B that confirms he indeed did suit up yesterday (October 14) with grand plans to shoot hoops for the team. "Just putting my skills to the test, supporting Bay Area teams, and spreading that love," Lil B told the KSBW news team [via Pitchfork] at the open tryouts.

Afterwards, he tweeted: "At the nba warriors tryouts right now just did a interview for the news, love to the whole golden state warriors staff i love yall."

He later added, "ITS CRAZY CUZ I THOUGHT COACH WUD BE PLAYING ME AS THE 1 AT NBA TRY OUTS TODAY BUT HE WANTED ME AT THE 2, TODAY WAS #BASED HISTORY."

B had initially noted last month that he would be trying out for the Golden State Warriors proper, not the D-league team from Santa Cruz, which was recently moved to California from Bismarck, ND. The minor league team was previously known as the Wizards.

No word yet on whether B made the cut, but we'll be sure to know before the team's first home game, December 23.
