Lightning Bolt

Lightning Bolt have touched upon something sweet here. If you took the noise rock and chaos of the Ruins and Melt Banana, melodicised it, added a math rock feel à la Don Caballero or Oxes, meshed in some Boredom-type squealing and a seemingly constant hammer-on/pull-off guitar style and distorted bass, you'd have something approximating this band. The all-instrumental approach may alienate some, but Lightning Bolt's chaos is structured in some strange way. These aren't guys looking for a musical spotlight to bask under or for us to gaze and praise their talents. This is a band doing what the fuck they want and doing fucking well. Entirely awesome and one I'll be recalling come the year end polls.
