Punk rock lovers nationwide: Why are these guys not selling out festivals yet? The Sudbury trio, composed of brothers Jamie and Nicholas Millard and their non-blood-related brother Zack Tynchuk, have been releasing solid punk rock gems since 2005. Their brand of melodic punk more than stands on its own, but for comparison's sake, is best described as Ladyhawk meets the Dirty Nil.
Opening track ''The Sweat of a Hero'' blasts the album open with riff-drenched, drum-filled vigour. Jamie Millard's alto sounds clumsy at times, and though it gives the album a charming DIY feel, it can make his wordy lyrics hard to make out. Still, the goods are here: "Everything Avenue'' is a sing-song track with gang vocals, smart lyrics, a toe-tapping hook and an energetic rhythm section that make it the album's peak, while closer ''So Free'' has a '90s alt-rock vibe in its rhythm section that gives a slight nod to bands like Blind Melon and Built to Spill.
