Published Jul 24, 2012The Walkmen have been repping their Heaven LP hard since it dropped in May, but the bulk of the group recently managed to help out their buddy Quentin Stoltzfus premiere his new Light Heat project by acting as the backup band on his debut tune, "And the Birds."
Everyone but Walkmen vocalist Hamilton Leithauser took part in the number, which places a breezy Matt Barrick backbeat beneath "We've Been Had"-style piano runs, paisley pop organs and even some harp plucking.
"Thanks to Pete, Paul, Matt and Walt for being a part of it and for getting my ass in gear. Ham thanks for loaning me yr band pal," Stoltzfus tweeted of the track earlier today (July 24).
The Philadelphia-based musician/producer's dreamy drawl, meanwhile, conjures Bono more than the Walkmen's catastrophically comical U2 piss-take a few months back.
