Lieutenant

"Believe the Squalor" (video)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 20, 2015

Ahead of tonight's (May 20) Foo Fighters appearance on the final Late Show with David Letterman, bassist Nate Mendel is repping his Lieutenant project with a new music video. Melding black metal imagery and some gentle sounds, the video to "Believe the Squalor" can be seen down below.

The video takes place on hallowed ground, though the Christian church setting is soon inverted as holy figures are transformed into corpse paint-wearing riff slingers and leather clad sexpots. While the music is performed by Mendel, Head and the Heart vocalist Josiah Johnson and Helmet guitarist Page Hamilton, Mendel and director Matt Kubas' vision for the video had them using "100% incorrect musicians."

Instead of Mendel and his collaborators you'll find members of metal bands Harassor, Ironaut and Holy Grail giving it their all in the flame-engulfed video down below.
