The Libertines to Reunite for UK Festival Shows

The Libertines to Reunite for UK Festival Shows
Have a grain of salt ready to take, because this news hinges on the dependability of Pete Doherty.

The ex-Libertines/current Babyshambles front-man and former Libertine Carl Barat (who formed Dirty Pretty Things) have recently patched things up and have now confirmed that they will play the Reading and Leeds festivals this summer in the UK.

As the Guardian reports, all four original members of the band are allegedly being paid 1.5 million pounds ($2.3 million Canadian) to play their first official Libertines appearance since 2004.

The band have claimed that if the shows go well, they may plot further dates and even start writing together again. If you ask us, though, you might not want to hold your breath.

The group broke up in 2004 when Barat and fellow band members John Hassall and Gary Powell kicked Doherty out in an attempt to make him face his heroin addiction. Of course, the singer has been in and out of jail since for possession and other felonies. Just last week, the singer was arrested on suspicion of supplying the drugs that led to the death of wealthy British socialite Robin Whitehead in January.
