Published Apr 13, 2007Last night on stage at London's Hackney Empire, Pete Doherty and former Libertine co-hort Carl Barat reunited for a full set of songs from their former band.
What was billed as "An Evening with Peter Doherty" turned into a partial... let's face it, a full-on Libertines reunion when in the second half the set, Doherty announced: "You've been waiting for this moment. Ladies and gentlemen Mr. Carlos Barat...only joking! What do you expect for 25 quid?" Of course, Barat followed and the pair went on to play 13 songs from the Libertines' two albums, as well as a cover of the Mamas & the Papas' "Dream A Little Dream," reports NME.com.
As with most Libertines gigs in the past, the show finished outside, with fans cheering on the pair to do one last song. From their dressing room window they said goodnight with an impromptu version of signature Libs tune "Can't Stand Me Now."
